Who Caught My Eye During Fashion Month

Claire Beermann

I’ve talked about this before, but some women just get it. They understand what shapes and colors work for their bodies. They understand how to look distinct in a sea of well dressed people during fashion month. And most importantly, they understand how to have fun with clothes. Click on to see who grabbed my attention during fashion month and why.

I didn’t spot Claire at any shows, but I kept coming across her picture on various street style roundups. I was drawn to her outfits because they have personality. You can sense her love for clothes and it’s infectious. Her looks pulled me out of my current desire to dress minimally and made me want to revisit my statement pieces.

Elle UK has this wonderful section on its site called What Elle Wears and that’s how I discovered Espe. Espe has a knack for adding her own, casual touch to beautiful designer pieces. She makes that velvet Christopher Kane dress look suitable for a weekend of running errands. Her pieces might be expensive, but nothing looks too precious or inaccessible.

I’m usually not inspired by full on designer looks. They have a tendency to wear the girl and leave little room for personal style, but that’s not the case with Gilda. She makes these looks her own. Another thing that stood out were the athletic references. Wearing sneakers during fashion week isn’t a new concept, but something about the way Gilda wears them makes them feel new.

I admire women like Deena who consistently commit to looking this well put together. Women who refuse to wear a sneaker (maybe she does on her off time) because they know what works for them and what makes them feel good. I also love a good pixie cut, and how well Deena plays with shape and color. She’s sophisticated but in the most non-boring way.

I saw Meruyert a couple times during NYFW and her outfits were always simple and easy but they still made a statement. Meruyert balances looking well put together and youthful, which isn’t always easy to achieve.
