5 Stylish Women Answer This Question:

As much as I dislike the transition from summer to fall, it’s an exciting time for my closet. I immediately get into buy mode, but I always try to be really strategic about it. I typically start by browsing the internet and compiling things I want, looks I like, and colors I’m drawn to. But, if you didn’t already gather this from these profiles, I like to hear from various perspectives to inform my decisions.  That’s why I decided to reach out to previous style profile subjects who were nice enough to humor me and answer the question above. Ashta Hunter, freelance designer and co-founder of Tomboy BKLYN:

“Well I am feeling very baggy.  I have already purchased my men’s raw selvage denim and I have my eye on a pair of desert boots, so I think I’m going to be very “Boy” this fall season. As far as designer pieces, I would love to find money in my budget for one of the long color-block Mui Mui trenches, the denim peacoat from Christophe Lemaire, the color-block pants from Eudon Choi, and everything from MSGM. I could go on but I will stop there. HA! Everything I mentioned is on Tomboy BKLYN’s Pinterest.”

Tiffany Jow, Development Associate, Partnerships at  Museum of Arts and Design:

“Autumn is my favorite season. Chunky sweaters and mini skirts are my go-to. This year I’m thinking about full midi skirts, big hats, and colorful coats.”

Sarah Brook,  Director of Experience at The Line:

“It’s been 12 weeks since Lucio was born and I’m finally back into my old jeans! But, of course, now I want new ones. All my high-waisted skinny jeans feel a bit strict now. For fall I’m opting for a more relaxed look with vintage Levi’s. I love the entire Protagonist assortment, especially the film noir-inspired blouses, chalk stripe flannel tops, and yummy pullover sweaters. That will make up my daily uniform with heels I already own and an oversized coat.”

Kristen Naiman, Vice President Brand Creative, Kate Spade New York:

“These things caught my eye: red shoes; black hair bows; fringe dresses; bold multi stripe sweaters; pajama tops; white men’s tuxedo shirts. In terms of designers: Isa Arfen, Stella Jean, and Apiece Apart.”

Christina Kolbe, Owner of Mafalda:

“To be honest, I’m not thinking too much about fashion. The barrage of constant information has made me seek a surprise. I have this feeling of wanting to see something new in store rather than having details come out throughout the production process and see it worn by starlets who I may or may not find inspiring. Feels like it’s been done and over by the time it reaches me. In regards to my style and purchases, I’ve been heavy on the classics and seeking perfect pieces for my body type. And, as always, crafting my own look with vintage touches. “
